To try self hypnosis for weight loss, you have to start by finding a place to practice. Somewhere quiet is best, preferably in a room where you can close the door or at least be separated from the rest of the world. You will want to minimize distractions by turning your cell phone off and letting others in your house know that you do not wish to be disturbed.
Once you have found a quiet place where you know you will be able to have some time without being bothered, you need to make it as comfortable as possible. Using blankets and a pillow can help make your chair more comfortable. You can also play soothing music or burn scented candles or incense. Turning the lights down can also can help. Once you are comfortable, focus on relaxing and slowing down your breathing so that you get closer to your hypnotic state.
To use self hypnosis for weight loss, you need to picture yourself as you want to look. Keep it positive – do not tell yourself that you do not want to look fat – instead, picture yourself thinner. Imagine what you would look like and how it would feel. You need to get that image emblazoned in your mind. That way it can be used to combat the urges to eat. Repeat over and over again that you will not eat if you are not hungry, but instead only eat when your body needs nutrition. Along similar lines, you can also inspire yourself to work out more. Picture yourself doing a workout goal successfully, and imagine how it would feel to complete. Your mind is powerful, and what you imprint on it, it will tell the body to do. But you must really believe it and be able to enter your relaxed, hypnotic state when the subconscious is most suggestible.
As with anything, you are going to have to keep practicing at it to get it to stick. Try to set aside time each day for self hypnosis. Once you have finished, use that energy to get up and go exercise. With time, you will find yourself eating less and working out more, and you will see the pounds melting away. You may even need a new wardrobe soon! Plus, since you did it on your own with only your mind you will be able to use the money you saved by not buying diet products or workout gadgets to go shopping.
