All About Intrauterine InseminationFor some couples, it can be enormously difficult to conceive a child. This can be due to many different problems, and it can be often difficult to pin down exactly what is causing the couple to be unable to achieve conception. In this article, we’ll examine a procedure that is commonly used in order to help couples that are having fertility problems to successfully conceive a child. Known as intrauterine insemination, the process offers hope for both males and females who have fertility problems. In order for an intrauterine insemination to occur, the female in the relationship needs to closely monitor her body. When she detects that her ovulation cycle has begun, she should contact the fertility clinic where the procedure is to be performed. She may then be instructed to have drugs that can encourage her ovulation in order to ensure that she is successfully ovulating. A sperm sample is then to be taken from the male in the relationship and given to the doctor at the fertility clinic. If there is a problem with the male in the relationship’s reproductive system that doesn’t allow the sperm to successfully be obtained via ejaculation, a sample may be taken surgically by the doctor. The sample is then injected directly into the uterus by the doctor via the use of a catheter. This can help to bypass any problems that the female may have with her reproductive system such as scar tissues that prevent sperm from successfully reaching the uterus and beginning the process of conception. The procedure is quick and doesn’t require any types of medications or anesthesia. The insemination takes around two minutes, and the doctor often asks that the female lay in position for around five minutes after the insertion. The sperm will remain in the uterus after the woman gets up, however, due to the cervix closing. There are very few side-effects from the procedure with women sometimes reporting feeling cramps after the insemination. It’s important to remember that this type of procedure isn’t a sure-fire method of producing a pregnancy; there is between a five and twenty five percent chance that a pregnancy will occur as a result. To that end, you may need to visit the fertility clinic multiple times in order to successfully conceive. It does provide a sufficient methodology for individuals who are unable to naturally conceive and it is a procedure that is relatively low in cost and easy to perform. If repeated attempts at intrauterine insemination are not yielding any results, you may want to consider speaking to your fertility doctor about other options such as in vitro fertilization, which can cost more but is a more surefire means of creating a pregnancy. You may also want to consider having the male in the relationship’s sperm tested in order to ensure that he is providing the fertile seed that is necessary to produce a child. Whatever course of action you decide to take we wish you the best of luck on your journey to conceiving!
